Project Tabletop: turn your floor into a projected football pitch
Gadget, Easy
A Windows app that uses a ceiling-height projector and a webcam to make a board on the floor interactive. Move a printed marker or your fingertip to steer a car in a two-player or vs-computer football game.
ProjectTabletop is a local Windows C# app by Alexander Biemann. One window on the laptop handles camera selection, board setup, fingertip tracking and calibration, and a second window sends the scene to the projector. The README puts the projector and webcam about 110 cm above the floor, both aimed down at a matte-white board.
Version 1.2.0 adds Football, a first-to-five match for two people or one against the computer. You steer with a printed black-bar marker, a cardboard T or a fingertip. The app has other board games and a water garden mode too.
The installer targets Windows 11 x64 and is unsigned, so expect a warning. It's source-available under a noncommercial license, and commercial use needs written permission from the author.
Ideas to try with it
Our ideas, not the builder's claims.
- Project a map on the floor and have a small robot drive it
- Use the marker tracking to steer a real RC car instead of a drawn one
