Noutomation: no-code sensor and relay automation on a Raspberry Pi CM4
Gadget, Medium
A browser-configured controller that reads sensors and switches relays and Modbus devices. Example rules from the builder: water at 6 every morning, run the fan above 30°C, turn on heat when it gets cold.
Masubo, an engineer who works in farming, built Noutomation on a Raspberry Pi CM4 and an M5Stack StamPLC. You link triggers (a time or a sensor reading) to actions from a phone or computer browser, without writing code. Through relays and suitable control circuits it can switch pumps, solenoid valves, fans and lights.
Modbus over RS-485 lets it read existing industrial sensors and drive external relay modules, with configurable register addresses. The builder brings industrial automation and measurement experience from a previous job and used Codex to speed up development. It's aimed at farms and workshops, though any repetitive switching job fits. The post doesn't link any code.
Ideas to try with it
Our ideas, not the builder's claims.
- Trigger your robot's docking or patrol from the same rules
- Water seedlings on a schedule and alert you if soil moisture stays low
